Trimming public (vagina) hair is as personal as sexuality itself and many different trims and variations are available.  Before trimming your private region below are a few tips that will help you and keep the experience a positive one for both you and your partner.  Trimming is done for fashion as well as personal hygiene.

Options

Trimming:  Is a popular common option.  Trimming is simply shortening and thinning one's public hair and this is generally done by a good trimmer or scissors.  One should be very careful not to cut or damage the area.  Small scissors with rounded tips are generally a safe way to trim.

Shaving:  Cutting hair with a razor to make the area totally nude is also an option.  The razor method removes all hair.  The disadvantages of shaving is that hair grows back relatively quickly forming a stubble and one risk nicks and cuts to the sensitive areas.  Also the possibility of itching, ingrown hairs are also a risk. 

Shaving Tips

• Be sure to trim hair as short as possible with trimmer or scissors before having. 
• Take a warm bath before shaving, then place a warm cloth over the area to be shaved for a few minutes.
• Apply a shaving cream for sensitive skin before shaving.  (Be sure that you are not allergic to the shaving cream before using.
• Be sure to have a good sharp razor or 2 for sensitive skin.  Never shave with a previously used razor.  Shave in the direction that the hair grows.  While shaving only shave a small area before cleaning out the razor.  Do not over shave and keep going over and over the sensitive skin. This can cause irritation.  Generally 2 or 3 passes will remove all the hair.  While shaving you may need to hold some of the skin tight to get all the unwanted hair removed.  Take your time and be very patient.
• Once completed exfoliate the area with an exfoliating sponge, etc to clean dead cells from your pores and skin.  One does not want on need an infected vaginal area.
• A good gentle moisturizer for sensitive skin is preferred by most.  Aloe vera and baby oil are some moisturizers of choice.

Creams:  Hair removal creams are an option to remove unwanted hair.  Be sure to test these creams in a small area before applying it liberal.  Some find that hair removal creams causes burning and skin irritation. Use with caution and avoid getting cream inside the vaginal area.

Waxing:  Waxing is another method for those who want to remove all the hair and do not want to shave.

Emergency Tips: 

A cut or nick should be cleaned regularly to avoid infection.  Some experts recommend a small amount of antibiotic cream be applied.  If it does not heal or redness and swelling persist get medical advice by calling a medical hotline or a call or visit to a medical professional.

Razor Rash causing burning or itching.  And can be troublesome especially for those who have just began shaving.  A good medicated baby power will help ease the pain and discomfort.  To help avoid rash or problems, be sure follow the shaving steps outlined above.
